Title: A must have for anyone in emergency medicine!

Review: The previous editions of Tintinalli's were a staple of my education, and this edition continues the tradition of quality writing, editing and excellent, complete information. This book is a must have for any provider that treats patients in an emergent setting. It gives you exactly the right amount of pathophysiology, general background, progression and treatment information to make in incredibly effective for nearly all of the conditions and complaints you may encounter. The tidbits on the appropriate treatment plans are spectacular and typically prevent me from having to find another reference manual to understand the diagnosis, progression, treatment and prognosis.
The book itself is well bound and of quality materials.
Tintinalli's will continue to reside on the top of the pile of my first line reference texts for the less common conditions that I have little understanding of. Absolutely will be buying the next edition and those after that.

Review: Love the quality education this book provides - the only drawback is its size and weight, hard to study in bed because it cuts of the circulation to my legs but it is sooooo worth it!

Review: A really detailed book (it's a textbook, NOT a study guide) with a lot of great chapters. Very readable. The only thing that's lacking is that not once, in two THOUSAND pages, is there any reference to childhood malnutrition. Where I'm from, we see SAM once a week. These kids come into casualty and it's really sad that thier basic emergency care is not covered. It's not a huge problem - lots of other books cover the topic - but it's annoying not to have it all in one book.

Title: The New Edition of "The Bible of Emergency Care"

Review: This is one of the "Bibles" of emergency care. Every emergency physician knows about this and consults it. So do knowledgeable nurses and paramedics involved in emergency care. It is not perfect. Rosen's may be better in the long run, but this will get you to "GO" most of the time. There is no one text that suffices for all one needs to know in emergency care, but this book should be on every emergency caregiver's bookshelf.

Title: Good for learning

Review: This is (or at least it was) the gold standard at the county hospital in Cook County, Chicago which is one of the busiest ED's in the nation. Straight forward info and lots of color photos. Don't expect to carry it around in the field for reference unless you're working on an ambulance because it is a huge and heavy book. Great learning reference.

Title: Like most textbooks

Review: This textbook did its job amazingly well. Like most textbooks, it really isn't for reading. It's to make my attending physician happy. Well, it worked I got a letter of recommendation! One day though when I have time, I plan on making real use of this monster of a book.

Review: This book goes into great detail and serves as both a great learning tool and a strong reference. Definitely way more detail than a medical student will need for their home/away rotations, but an essential text for any EM resident.
